Covering the canvas in colour with slightly thinned paint and mapping in where tree and poppies will go.

Starting the canvas I have discovered the best brush size for the initial stage is a 1inch brush. poppies at this stage were painted mainly with cadmium red a colour which takes longer than usual to dry.
